AIRail - Take off by Train to the Plane!
AIRail – the ideal connection between rail and air travel
AIRail, a joint undertaking between the railway and Lufthansa, is the ideal connection between plane and train on routes between Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Cologne and Düsseldorf.
Rail arrivals and departures are timed to fit in with Lufthansa flight times in Frankfurt, effectively reducing transfer times. You can even catch early intercontinental connections. And of course Miles & More members can collect valuable airmiles on all AIRail routes.
Save time when you check in
Passengers can save valuable check in time. If you start your journey by AIRail train, you’ll be able to check in for the air route at the same time as you check in for the train. You just need your AIRail boarding pass which doubles as your ticket for the AIRail connection you’ve booked.
At the AIRail terminal at Frankfurt’s intercity railway station – which is just across from the entrance to the airport terminal – passengers can leave their luggage for their onward flight. On the return journey, the luggage is ready to be collected from where you left it. Customs formalities are also carried out here.
|Simple, easy bookings|
Both the Lufthansa reservation system and international reservation systems refer to AIRail trains as “flights”. You can book AIRail as a feeder / connecting service, in the same way as you book Lufthansa flights – through your travel agency, via the Lufthansa Call Centre, online or via Lufthansa’s mobile portal.
Please note that for technical reasons, journeys beginning in Siegburg/Bonn have to be entered showing Cologne as the departure or arrival station. Miles & More members can, of course, collect valuable airmiles on all AIRail routes.
|Check in and Boarding Pass|
You’ll need a boarding pass for your journey by Lufthansa AIRail. You print this off yourself by going online or via your mobile up to 23 hours before your train departs. If you are unable to do so, Lufthansa check-in machines are available at the main train stations in Cologne, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf where you can print out your boarding pass up to 15 minutes before your train departs.

You can collect your luggage from the Lufthansa AIRail Terminal which is in the passage to Frankfurt Airport’s intercity train station. Also available to you are the Lufthansa Check In machines in Frankfurt if you have not yet checked in for AIRail trains or Lufthansa flights.
