Important information for safe transport
Packing
Your suitcase should be firmly closed, bags should ideally have a small lock. Please attach an address label to all items of luggage if possible.
It is essential that skis and bicycles are adequately packed. If necessary, you can order suitable packaging when you buy your ticket. The Hermes driver will bring the packaging on the day of collection and collect the charge on the spot.
We regret that bicycles cannot be sent to the islands of Spiekeroog or Heligoland as courier luggage.
The following items cannot be transported:
- items that are particularly susceptible to damage, such as televisions, computers, furniture
- animals, plants or perishable foodstuffs
- bicycles with engine, tandems, recumbent bicycles, tricycles
- cash, precious stones, works of art, jewellery, clocks and watches
- explosives, weapons and other dangerous goods pursuant to GGVSE/RID and BB Personenverkehr
- share certificates and other securities
Weights and volumes
Standard luggage max. 30 kg; max. 150 cm long.
Special luggage max. 30 kg; max. 300 cm long.
Exception: wheelchairs may weigh more.
Refunds, loss or damage
Orders can be cancelled up to 18:00 h on the last working day before the agreed day of collection. Depending on the booking method used, please contact either your DB Travel Center or DB agency. We are liable pursuant to the regulations concerning carriage by rail (EVO) for loss or damage to luggage on inland journeys.
