BahnCard 25, 50 & 100: Travel and save

A BahnCard 25 or 50 will get you a discount of 25% or 50% on the ticket price. BahnCard 100 gives you total flexibility: you can travel as often as you want without needing to buy a ticket.

No. People living outside Germany can also order BahnCards.

You can determine when your BahnCard should be valid when you place your order.

If you order your BahnCard online and pay with a credit card, you will receive a temporary BahnCard when you place your order. You can use it immediately for your travels. At sales points in Germany you can buy your BahnCard immediately and receive a provisional BahnCard. Sales points abroad can be found under "Contact". You will receive the plastic card later by post.

You will normally receive your BahnCard about 2 weeks after we receive the order.

Indicate what BahnCard you have on bahn.com's travel information page. If you have already reached the list of train connections but have not indicated what BahnCard you have, simply click ""Change"" to open the BahnCard selection option. Our system factors in your BahnCard when calculating the ticket price.

If you have a BahnCard 100, you do not need a ticket.

No, but you need to make sure that you have a valid BC on the day of travel.

Yes. Saver fares and discounts can be combined. The following discounts are available:

Super saver fare: 25% discount with a BahnCard 25 or BahnCard 50

Saver fare: 25% discount with a BahnCard 25 or BahnCard 50

Saver fare Europe: 25% discount on the German part of the route with BahnCard 25
In Switzerland and the Czech Republic: 25% discount on the German part of the route with BahnCard 50 as well.

If you have a BahnCard 100, it automatically includes the City-Ticket function, so you can make as many trips - free of charge - as you want within the applicable area of the towns and cities covered by the offering.
Other BahnCards do not give you free travel on local transport services.

Discounts covering the non-Germany part of a Flexible fare are available in the following European countries:

Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina (ZFBH and ZRS), Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Netherlands, Republic of North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland.

Our system automatically includes the discount during booking.

The discount applies only for cross-border travel. There is no discount if your journey is exclusively within one country outside of Germany.

You can cancel your BahnCard up to six weeks before it is due to expire:

You can cancel your trial BahnCard 25/50 in writing up to 6 weeks before it is due to expire. If you do not cancel your card, it automatically becomes an annual subscription. You do not need to cancel a BahnCard 100. Your trial BahnCard 100 expires immediately after the last day of validity and is not automatically extended, as it is not a subscription product.

No. Each BahnCard is person-specific and non-transferrable.

To make travel even more convenient, you can add your BahnCard to the DB Navigator app. It only takes a few steps following purchase. First, register with BahnCard Services on bahn.com. The relevant section is separate from your My Bahn customer account.
