Karlsruhe – Freiburg : Four-track line upgrade
The Karlsruhe - Basel expansion and new construction line project will provide two additional tracks so that long-distance, local and freight transport will have more space on the railway in future. Following successful implementation, the following three key objectives can be achieved: More trains, more punctuality and more speed. To this end, the project team is simultaneously building the tracks, points, overhead line and railway overpasses between Rastatt and Baden-Baden in August.

Tip: On the day of travel, you can also use the digital travel assistance in the DB Navigator app with automatic notifications about changes to your booked or saved journey.
The effects at a glance
- A replacement bus service will be organised between Rastatt or Karlsruhe and Baden-Baden.
- From Karlsruhe there is an hourly connection in the direction of Freiburg or Switzerland. From Rastatt every two hours.
- Trains will be rerouted between Frankfurt or Stuttgart and Paris.
